Hi Sarah,
My question is in regards to graduate school before dental school. I was reading previous posts regarding graduate school at Meharry. I understand that this program is by invitation only, but nonetheless I am very interested. I am considering applying to both Meharry and Howard next year for dental school, but if I do not get accepted immediately, I will attend grad school. I am considering pursuing a masters degree at TSU in a science related field. My question is do you feel as though that would be a good decision if I want to ultimately go to dental school? Also, do you know of any other graduate programs that are similar to Meharry's MSH program that would be beneficial for a student like me?
Thank you,
-Malcolm

I have the same question! I was thinking about applying to grad school before dental school because I want to be as competitive as I can be ! I think it's a smart idea because it shows maturity and that you're actually serious. Let's wait to see what she says!

I think it is a personal choice, if you feel like you are not prepared I would suggest a graduate program. HOWEVER I feel like you should shoot for the moon and fall among the stars if that makes sense. I think you should shoot for dental school and put all your energy into that. If Dental school doesn't happen lets say next year it will happen eventually! I am not sure of any specific other graduate programs like the MHS program but I do suggest applying to dental school and possibly calling schools you are interested in to see if they have other programs ! Good luck with everything

It does make you a great applicant and competitive however I think you should try to apply to dental school as well and not wait! (see my other response as well to malcolm.)
